Greetings all – I am currently travelling in Hungary, Croatia and Montenegro, and have been amazed at the excellent quality of the roads. While it’s true, the major highways are toll roads but the secondary and rural roads are not, and they are very well maintained. We have rented a fabulous Peugeot 208 car but many times I wished I was on a Duc or a Guzzi. I have noticed that once again there are very few classic bikes to be seen. Other than some Vespas, some Lambrettas and a very old unidentifiable two stroke (above image) that my current neighbour here rides every day, all I have seen is modern scooters of every description, a few R1 Yamahas and a few older Vstroms. The tour groups are on gigantic BMW and KTM adventure bikes. So where are all the old bikes? Last year I noticed the same thing in Spain and Portugal. You would think with all of the fabulous twisties and the condition of these roads there would be more old bikes out and about- I don’t get it…
