The Norton ES2 was a long running model originally designed in the 1940s as a sport bike and it remained popular due to its reliability and ease of maintenance, as well as the traditional design. From 1947 the ES2 had an innovative hydraulically damped telescopic front fork and race developed rear plunger suspension.
This example is a fully restored, matching numbers bike with all original bodywork components. It retains the 6 volt dynamo but with electronic voltage regulator, and a new cloth covered wiring harness. New chrome rims with stainless spokes, Avon period correct tires, new chrome header pipe and muffler. The engine was stripped down to the crank and received new valve guides, pistons and rings, a new O ring cam chain eliminating oil bath leaks, all correct BSF fasteners, and the gearbox was all rebuilt with some new components. The body parts were all repainted and striped but the tanks original chrome was retained. The original Amal 276 carb has been properly fettled and the original Smiths Speedo indicates 38,100 miles. It starts easily and is a pleasure to ride.
The bike is located in Langley, BC and is offered at $8500.
